Keep on Writing
I have been rather lazy the past few months on keeping my blog updated. But - I have been writing. My second children’s novel is in its final (hopefully) draft. I first thought up this story over a year ago, and finally began writing it some time last year. To be honest, I don’t even know how many months I’ve been working on it because all my writing projects tend to blend together. I think it’s been about eight months since I crafted the first page, and then re-wrote it, then deleted it and re-wrote it. I think the first page is done, now. The book will appeal to kids between six and nine years old and is a cautionary tale about the online world — how many kids wander in the woods these days? Move over Hansel & Gretel, times have changed. I’m hoping publishers will recognize the market for this type of story - I’m pretty sure the kids will.
In the next week or so, I’ll be putting together my query letter to send off to literary agents. Then, hopefully amid the pile of rejection letters or emails that I receive, at least one gleaming “Send us your manuscript” will fly in my direction.
