Keep on Writing

I have been rather lazy the past few months on keeping my blog updated.¬† But – I have been writing.¬† My second children’s novel is in its final (hopefully) draft.¬† I first thought up this story over a year ago, and finally began writing it some time last year.¬† To be honest, I don’t even know how many months I’ve been working on it because all my writing projects tend to blend together.¬† I think it’s been about eight months since I crafted the first page, and then re-wrote it, then deleted it and re-wrote it.¬† I think the first page is done, now.¬† The book will appeal to kids between six and nine years old and is a cautionary tale about the online world — how many kids wander in the woods these days?¬† Move over Hansel & Gretel, times¬†have changed.¬† I’m hoping publishers will¬†recognize the¬†market for¬†this type of story – I’m pretty sure the kids will.¬†
In the next week or so, I’ll be putting together my query letter to send off to literary agents.¬† Then, hopefully amid the pile of rejection letters or emails that I receive, at least one gleaming “Send us your manuscript” will fly in my direction.
